CAT.
A cat
Cat
A carnivore, a killer, a spiteful fur covered purr
Whiskers of wire and eyes of malice, precision furtively gliding towards an unsuspecting victim
Either a swipe or a pounce, the outcome is always a slow death.
No instant kill, no honour in your demise, no swift judgement on your being but a passing of agony, of tortuous pain, being pushed and prodded so your last movements of hoped escape are teased and pulled out of you – just to be smite one final agonising drawn out time
A final jab from a paw receives no response; jab no response; jab no response. Now sitting just staring casually at the stationary casualty
Is it time to eat the vanquished? No, the still, lifeless creature is left, ignored.
Now it is time to clean and preen, using the clawed weapon of death, circular sweeps arc up around ears, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.
A yawn, a look, a final disdainful glare toward the victim, with legs in straight rigid stretches the cat struts away.
Now seeing a human, a tail raised as a flag of greeting, a purr of how-do-you-do’s, sweeping side to side, meows of plaintive hello’s
I’m hungry - I’m thirsty - I have nothing to eat
This purring kitty is a lion in cat’s clothing, it’s a lap warming bundle of death
I now must sleep and dream of me
