Howard Leek Poems

They say you've got a pool of knowledge
Available to you at college
But I'm no good at swimming
And I don't see a lifeguard coming
...

You’re like the four seasons,
Changing back and forth,
You’re like a delicate cloud on cold winters day
You could hold my attention for hours
...

A year has gone by,
Although it feels like so much more,
Is that testimony to you?
Or saying my life has been a bore?
...

Wind rustles the grass
as it idles past,
A bit like emotions rustling people
as life takes its toll.
...

A room full of people,
I wonder what's being considered,
Love, loss and despair?
Well i'd hope so,
...

The Beauty Of The Working Class

They say you've got a pool of knowledge
Available to you at college
But I'm no good at swimming
And I don't see a lifeguard coming
Or maybe I'm just not looking
But I think I'll keep my blinkers on and keep moaning
That way there is no change
And the same old 'system' keeps turning
That allows a politician to keep 'working'
And an excuse for why there is still poverty
Wait,
What if the tables were turned
And you were in a position of authority
Would you hold the same views now stood in different shoes?
Or sit back idle with your luck
Discuss world poverty whilst eating roast duck
and come to the conclusion
'Someone should make change change soon'

So overall not too different to any other man
Except while you're leaving half your duck
He's polishing cars 'till he can get down the pub
And have the same conversation in a slightly different manner
Because when his mate says 'well what can we do fella? '
He replies 'it's beyond me'
obliviously dismissing the fact he's running the marathon for charity tomorra.
