There are people all around the world,
Starving and forgotten,
And apples on the ground, dew-pearled,
Left lying to go rotten.

They say we're making progress and things are better now
They say we're living longer and we're healthier somehow
They say that life's improving in oh! so many ways
But who can turn the water into wine these days?

I'm afraid this one is past its sell by date, but if you can think yourself back to Christmas 2008, when I wrote it, you might just be able to appreciate it.

Santa's had to lay off all the elves,

Karolina, with a K
I thought of you again today
The same old question came to mind
How could they treat you so unkind?

Most people have a black dog
But some dogs are bigger than others
This one of mine is a monstrous old swine
That goes by the name of Carruthers

I was late for a date with an angel
I was stuck in a traffic jam
I was late for a date with an angel
I was on my way to see The Lamb

This has quite a catchy tune. Shame about the lyrics.

Do you remember when there was just us two,
All those years ago when we said 'I do'?

I guess you've been lucky in love
And that's more important than most things I know

The days are far too long for me to fill
And solitude is no protection now
The nights are even longer still somehow
And sleep no longers answers to my will

Learning how to fly
They’ll be airborne for a while
They’ll breed and then they’ll die

Would you deny me thrice?
Rather than sacrifice
Your image in men's eyes
Would you keep telling lies?

I've abridged this. Yes, I know - not enough!

Daddy says he don't believe in God,
But he could have been a Christian, if that doesn't sound too odd.
Daddy says he might have been, but the ones who ain't forgiven him
All seem to be Christians, and he wonders what these Christians mean by love.

There's a fundamental question that I try not to forget
Formulated long ago, and it still hasn't been answered yet.
Well, it makes me feel humble, it makes me feel sad,
It makes me feel guilty for all the good things that I've had;

I am weary

She has hair as black as sin
As far as I remember
Her eyes are pools I might drown in

Girl why don’t you shoot me? ‘Cause I don’t know what to say.
I’m so tongue-tied by your beauty, I’m dumbstruck every day
On account of being near you, and the sight of your bronze thighs,
An inch or three above the knee, reduces me to sighs.

The Best Poem Of Gil Tee

Land Of Plenty

There are people all around the world,
Starving and forgotten,
And apples on the ground, dew-pearled,
Left lying to go rotten.

You must have seen them on TV
And wondered who the hell’s to blame.
It could be you - or even me -
The world keeps turning just the same.

The losers in the human race
Accuse us in the Hall of Shame;
A land of plenty in disgrace,
Unworthy of the world’s acclaim.

Perhaps it’s time to make a stand
Against the kind of life we lead.
What good’s the money in your hand
When there are hungry mouths to feed?

A land of plenty gone to waste,
A throw-away society,
That daily stuffs its ugly face
Regardless of propriety.

A land of plenty gone to waste,
Whose wanton ways itself defame;
A land of plenty in disgrace,
A thief by any other name.
