Some see success as money to your name
As a lack of such a barrier to fame

In the quiet alleyway in the dim moonlight
Some mother's young daughter she died over-night
From a drug overdose friendless and alone
Found in a disused factory doorway cold and lifeless as a stone.

She's lost the dearest love she has ever known
And now she has to face the end alone
Her only daughter's ashes gone to sea
But of others she doesn't need their sympathy.

The bird born in an aviary and raised in captivity
Can never live in Nature's World amongst the wild and free
Even the birds of it's own species will peck it till it die
So never allow your feathered pet the freedom of the sky.

To tell her she is beautiful is not that hard to say
And 'twill only make her feel good about herself and help to make her day
She may even blush a little and say that's not really true
But thank you for the compliment it is so sweet of you.

Your wife she may not speak to you and your marriage at an end
But your dog will always stick by you, A dog's a man's best friend
Her friendship unconditional she will always stick by you
Until the Reaper claims her to you she will stay true.

A childless man children I've never had
And though young boy or girl has never called me dad
