Fifteen years ago the prettiest in the old town
But with dark brown hair dye she now cloaks her gray
The passing years has stripped her of some of her beauty
A fading rose that's life as some do say.

In his nostalgic flights of fancy he sees them every day
The old hills by his Hometown twelve thousand miles away
Far north of this southern city even as the crow does fly
Thousands of leagues of ocean thousands of miles of sky.

She yearns for adventure and wealth and renown
In the bigger World out there distant from Hamilton Town
In Melbourne or Sydney or further from home
Like London or Paris or New York or Rome.

Save for a few small pools of water lake Cartcarrong is dry
And only dark mud is now what meets the eye
Only a mudflat where a large body of water has been
The signs of climate change everywhere to be seen

The climate is changing so fast and extinction for human kind may come all too soon
And people cannot live elsewhere on outer space Planets such as the moon
Or other Planets way beyond the stars
Such as Jupiter, Pluto, Venus or Mars
