Los Angeles Times Festival of Book and The L.A. Times Book Prizes
The annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books will be held at University of Southern California, on April 21-22 2012.

The L.A. Times Book Prizes are awarded the night before the weekend's Festival of Books, on Friday, April 20,2012, in a public ceremony in the Bovard Auditorium on the campus of USC. Tickets for the Book Prizes ceremony will be available for purchase on March 26.
Awards will be presented in current interest, fiction, first fiction, biography, history, mystery-thriller, science and technology, graphic novel, poetry and young adult literature.

Narrating the Arab Spring
Cairo University, Feb 18th-20th
organizers say: “The aim of this international conference is to consider and shed light on the new narratives emerging from and about the Arab Spring. It will bring together participants from the Arab world, the UK, and beyond to reflect on the momentous events of 2011 and exchange views and experiences.”
The conference is set to run for three days, and will consist of panels, round-table discussions, as well as testimonials, films, and performances.
It’s organized by the UK’s Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World (CASAW) , the Department of English at Cairo University, and the Women & Memory Forum.

The 6th ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival
18-21 October 2012
ZEBRA invites film makers each to make a film based on the same poem and to submit various different interpretations of the poem [meine heimat] (my home) by Ulrike Almut Sandig.
The directors of the three best film versions will be invited to Berlin to meet the poet and have the opportunity to present and discuss their films.
The 6th ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival will be held from 18 to 21 October 2012 in the Babylon Cinema in Berlin. Deadline: 2 May 2012

The Cork Spring Poetry Festival

The Munster Literature Centre has been holding spring literary festivals since 1993, having gone by the names Éigse and Cork Spring Literary Festival in the past. It was renamed The Cork Spring Poetry Festival in 2012, to reflect the focus in poetry programming, which is always popular with Cork audiences. The Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize for a single poem was introduced in 2010, in honour of a late Irish poet long associated with the Centre.
