2011 Statistics of Female Contributors of Literary Magazines and Journals
On 27 February, Women in Literary Arts [VIDA] published statistics on the percentage of female reviewers, contributors, and authors that appeared in 14 established literary magazines and journals in 2011.
In 2010, the organization, VIda: Women In literary arts, took on a seemingly simple project: to count the rates of publication between women and men in many of our writing world’s most respected literary outlets.
VIDA: We decided to count as what we frequently heard people say about gender discrimination in the publishing world was entirely anecdotal, so we counted. We made some very attractive pie charts to illustrate some very disturbing numbers.

Open Call for Projects
Deadline: May 7,2012
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) is looking to fund projects that focus on research, writing and publishing of literary works, including novels, short stories, poetry, translations and biographies, in print and online.
The AFAC's first open call of 2012 is for artists in three general categories: Literature, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts.
This call is exclusively for Arab candidates whose projects target viewers or readers in Arab nations. However, the grant guidelines state that anyone is eligible to apply, regardless of age, years of experience, nationality, country of residence (Arab world and abroad) , ethnicity, religion or any other factor.
