Greetings. I hope to find through this notice, a musically versatile and simpatico singer/instrumentalist/composer who would generate musical settings for original lyrics of mine. Visit my page on PoemHunter and read The Ballad of Missing Hanratty and Calhoun Redux to get some idea of what such a musician would be working with. While these two are ballads, I also write in several other genres. HOT TIP: A VERY topical lyric currently in hand and waiting for a collaborator. Anyone familiar with how viral YouTube videos can be should be interested. Yours for higher spirits and greater challenges, Brian Purdy.

    Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to share with you this poetry news:
My poem Subway has been adapted into short film in Holland.
For viewing and details, please, see below.

    Best regards,

    Paul Hartal

Adapted into short film by Iris Dekker in the Netherlands, Subway can be be viewed on video

    at http: // v=FAlglBH0Za0

    and http: //

The poem was chosen for the annual Dutch Poetry Day Project of the Department of English at the Free University of Amsterdam. In personal correspondence to the poet, Iris Dekker writes:

I found Subway just through Google and reading trough, and when I stumbled upon your poem, I thought it was perfect for a short film. Maybe it was just meant to be! ...The script is based on the poem and follows it very closely, but I chose not to use dialogue in my film. This is because I feel when I'd repeat the images with words, I would be unnecessary doubling-up the visualization of the poem. For almost the same reasons, I used instrumental music. I didn’t want to raise questions about whether the lyrics are the original poetry or not, and I didn't want to damage the imagery or words. Today (January 26,2012) , I would like to show you the result, my video, because you are the creator of this wonderful piece of art.
