    A prize of $150,000 is given annually to honor a poet, a fiction writer, or a creative nonfiction writer who writes in Catalan, French, Galician, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, or Spanish. The prize is awarded by a consortium of Mexican government agencies, banks, and universities. Cultural or educational institutions or groups interested in literature may nominate a candidate; individuals may not apply. Submit the writer's curriculum vitae and a letter of support by June 22. There is no entry fee. Call or e-mail for complete guidelines.

    Magpie Poetry Contest Notice

    Deadline: June 15,2014
    First Prize: $500 (CAD) and publication, Second and Third prizes, $50 and publication in Pulp Literature Magazine.

    Summary: The Magpie Award for Poetry

    This is the first annual poetry contest from Pulp Literature Magazine, a west-coast mixed-genre adventure in reading. Results announced July 15. Winners to be published in our Autumn 2014 issue and given promotion on our website.

    The 8th international Welsh Poetry Competition,2014,

    This year the competition will be judged by Welsh writer, poet and environmentalist, John Evans.
    Prizes are: 1st Prize - £400,2nd Prize - £200 and 3rd Prize - £100, plus 17 runners-up will be published on our web site and in a future anthology!

    Closing date: Sunday 15th June 2014.

    To enter you just need to compose a poem, in English, of less than 50 lines and send to the competition organizers. Entry forms are available by post, can be downloaded from the web site or picked up from all libraries.

    All Wales Comic Verse Competition 2014

    Entries are now invited for this year’s All Wales Comic Verse Competition

    The Wirral Festival of Firsts 4th Open Poetry Competition

    This contest has a top prize of £200. Adjudication by Colin Watts. In addition to the general prizes there is a £25 prize for a poet living in Wirral.

    Two prizes of £5,000 (approximately $8,354) each and publication in the Bridport Prize anthology are given annually for a poem and a short story. A second-place prize of £1,000 (approximately $1,690) and publication is given in each category. A prize of £1,000 (approximately $1,690) and publication is also given for a work of flash fiction. Liz Lochhead will judge in poetry, Andrew Miller will judge in fiction, and Tania Hershman will judge in flash fiction. Submit a poem of up to 42 lines, a story of up to 5,000 words, or a short short story of up to 250 words by May 31.
