One of the many joys of discussing poetry with Lamont is watching him struggle to change the denotations of certain key words. For instance, he wants the word " derivative" to be positive, meaning something like " traditional" instead of its usual meaning, " hackneyed" and " imitative." OK, Lamont, put your rosey glasses on this word, which applies to William Logan's poetry and criticism and also to your poetry: " CONSTIPATED" !

      Chris, I don't own one fannypack. They look stoopid. I also don't wear transition shades. They look mildewed. My wife dresses me. i look elegant and cool. Ask her.
