Cocktails

She shoots us up with hormonic
cocktails till our balls drop,
then she sends us off to build
a man's world that only real

women will seek, truly.
Muscular mounds, distinguishing
deeds, and erections of phallic
forms come to be, just to please

that passing fancy of what
makes us, us. Steely, cementing
stamina pushed deep into the
heavenly sky and yet, never

fully filled. For, in the quest,
that ever-maddening quest,
is where all the truths lie
and the lies are born in one

cyclone of a cycle that reeks
of birth's bloody beginnings
and death's ultimate beguilement
by that mask of life that remains forever.......unexposed.

You made a mistake, Stan. You didn't read the poet's name. It's OK you can go with Lamont on this and change your critique to something negative. Don't worry about it! It must have been dark and you thought this was one the " by Lamont Palmer" approved poems!

Mike, I love this. However, I feel that what you have posted, is a poem in disguise. The line breaks make it look like a poem, but the truth (IMHO) is, that however it is portrayed on the page...it is poetic. I personally see no need to associate the new with the old, and thereby kowtow to the traditional, when endorsing the NOW and what follows beyond.
Again, I will re-state: I still love this.
