Music On Haida Gwaii Canada (7/22/2014 2:36:00 PM)

So in possibly bad form, I created an account and am immediately asking for help, but I'm obsessed with finding this poem and it can't be avoided!

I might have it all wrong as I can't find it using Google, but I remember reading a poem in high school that I thought was titled Rosa's Mother Was Never Very Good at Keeping House. It's a shorter poem, maybe 15 lines or so, and it is about a woman who was never good at keeping house so she just burned it down instead.

ROSE'S MOTHER WAS NOT GOOD AT KEEPING HOUSE
    By Rosemary Aubert

    If Rose's mother
    hated a house
    it would burn down.

    Oh, not on purpose,
    no insurance man
    issuing the cheque
    ever questioned the cause.

    It was only
    that if one day
    the rooms seemed small,
    the closets set
    too close together
in the wall, or the staircase began
    to offend somehow,
it would soon be all reduced,
    not suspiciously,
    only inevitably.
    One Hallowe'en
    Rose's mother
    left alone
to keep the home fires burning
    decided
    the present house
    was not a pleasant house
    to be left alone in,
so she made a goblin face
    on a sheet
and put it over the lamp
    by the window
    for the kids to see
    and went out.

    Next day
    they found
    all the piano keys
    melted into each other
    like one big note.

    Rose had lived
    in a lot of houses.
    " After the fifth
    or sixth, "
    she says
    " When mother said
    she didn't like a house,
    father listened."
