there is this, i believe that it is a poem, I read in a book. and I can not recall the name of the book but it went somethiung like this:
If there was a mountain a mile high and once every ten thousand years a bird flew by and brushed the mountain with a feather by the time that the mountain is gone only a fraction of eternity would have passed by.
If anyone can please help me as to what the name of this is and if possiable who wrote it that would be great. thanks.

    The earliest I can find this is in a story collected by the Brothers Grimm, " The Shepherd Boy." James Joyce uses the illustration in the sermon passage in his Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. I first read the example about the mountain and the bird in Hendrik Willem van Loon's The Story of Mankind.
