The Book You Left Unread

I thought I was your friend too?
I thought maybe we could just talk about the many chapters of my life that you read,
I thought it would be easier to feel better when you knew me like an open book, but it looks like you got bored and left me open.
I’m just another book you left unfinished, but I can’t stop reading the many chapters you’ve written for yourself.
I read on hoping maybe you’ll pick back up again and that maybe we will share another chapter that doesn’t end in my pages collecting dust.
I want you to read me, I want your eyes to fill with tears when you read the words that explain my pain.
I want to share my thoughts with you, I want you to picture the things I see with my teary eyes, I want you to read the words I’ve left for you, the ones I kept inside for so long, but have finally found the courage to put on my pages.
But the book you first picked up, and held in your hands with a gentle touch, is now collecting dust.
