Surrounds a sunny island
The birthplace of me

A gentle warm breeze
Touched me and I felt the love
Arouse my cold heart

Walking along with my umbrella
I thought, have I got some kanella
And have I got any of those cloves?
The answer was a couple of nos

What is today's meaningful thought?
Dwell not on things that make you blue
Remember the gifts life has brought
Feel for those less well-off than you

Do you hear the sound of jet engines?
A comforting wall of monotonous sound
A drone in the ancient chants of Byzantines
In prayers to keep us from crashing to ground

I stare at this white blank page
Hoping I will be inspired
Nothing - maybe it's my age
Or perhaps I'm just plain tired

What lovely sight presents itself to me
As I walk in dusk's subdued and soft light
In woods where there is a spring bluebell sea
And ancient trees sway their majestic might
