I met a friend for lunch today
We had a good couple of hours
But I would have liked to allay
His fears but it was beyond my powers

I wish I had said hello.
Your eyes were a sunlit blue,
But I was a little slow
I did not know what to do.

In our house there was a cellar
Our dad painted it long ago
For a while I was a dweller
In the cellar down below
...

They are here from the nursery
They’ve come to chop down my tree
Well not completely chop it down
But at least to chop off its crown
...

There is a place I like to go
I often walk there nice and slow
To a little church all alone
Where the blue sea sparkles below
...

There is a ruined residence
It is old and lacks elegance
It is the house where I was born
So for me it has relevance
...

One finds beauty everywhere on earth
In the lush green of this pleasant land
In arid expanses of desert
In tropical beaches with white sand
...

Oh cave of Cape Greco,
I love to stand inside,
Shout and hear my echo
As it leaves for outside.
...

It is such a beautiful place
Unspoilt land on the British Base
I love to walk upon its tracks
Unhurried and not in a race
...

They say that eyes of blue are cold
Yet yours have the warmth of gold
Its glint and a cornflower hue
What a sight for me to behold!
