Dylan Attard Poems

The water drop trickles,
Runs down the window pane,
Slides across the surface,
As I hear the driving rain.
...

These words I say before I sleep,
I pray to God my soul to keep,
And if I die before I wake,
I know there was no mistake.
...

My little man how big you've grown.
It's hard to believe years ago.
You couldn't even say my name.
"Didi" you called and smiled so bright.
...

The city flashes past,
Burning in the blast,
The earth shatters down below,
Time moves by, painfully slow,
...

To the Father through the features of mens faces,

I have encounter Christ,
...

Silence seeping through my bones,
As the Rosella calls and the branches groan,
The city feels so far away,
Distant,
...

Up so late every night,
Thoughts of you they just feel so right.
You make everything feel alright.
So, keep me company 'till the morning light.
...

To and fro your eyes will go.
Taking in the sight,
"Be careful lad! " I let you know,
I see the coming night.
...

Stagelights set in across her face,
As the audience hushes and she takes her place.
Before the crowd of but a few;
Thousand.
...

10.

Maria what became of us?
We fell in and out of love so fast.
And all that remains in our hearts.
Is the regret that we didn't even start.
...

A laugh,
A howl,
A call!
The bushland shares Her famous sounds,
...

From the eco-loo composting toilet,
To being bathed in sunlight as the morning comes.
Nothing is as special as talking together,
And this, at least, truly got done.
...

There's a reason that the colours,
Tell me your soul,
Tell me your mind,
Unveil what's inside.
...

Finches whistle as they flutter past,
Fleeting instant in a beating heart,
So profound,
So distant,
...

Every moment begins and ends,
Tombstones and photographs of,
A love long loathed and lost,
Again,
...

I didn't realise I was fighting for my own independence,
For an existence without another,
Where I would be my own brother,
A place where I was alone.
...

Please don't fall asleep yet,
I'm not tired, I'm not tired,
Just a little longer,
I'm scared you won't wake up!
...

Little house upon a hill,
How lost are you within this world?
Of greys and greens and gums and will,
Of beauty, freedom, death's grave unfurled.
...

Live every Love like it's your last.
For when it's past,
The memories you'll want to keep,
Will be the ones that make you weep,
...

You say I don't know what its like to make a sacrifice,
While a ten-year-old child walks twenty miles a day to get his mother rice,
To feed his brothers and sisters that night.
When children cry because their parents fight.

Water Drop On The Window Pane

The water drop trickles,
Runs down the window pane,
Slides across the surface,
As I hear the driving rain.
The beauty of the water,
Is that it hides my tears,
It cleanses my body,
Drowns out all my fears.
The curse of the water,
Is that it flows straight through.
It's form is ever changing,
Unlike my love for you.
Another droplet falls,
It streaks across the window,
And fades right out of sight.
Into the darkness,
Consumed by the night.
