I want to lie in a bed of roses
And be in your arms when the sun goes in
Kisses and butterflies to keep my head spinning
And in my dreams watch you shake your waist of beads
...

Voices in my head, voices in the night
Voices that tell me it is time
Time to be reborn, time to fight
Time to kill the candle but still show the light.
...

She said to me, 'I search for the way'
It was a little tearful voice
Couldn't see her, but heard her say
'Lost, Mister', above all the noise.

As I lay I write, as I write I sleep
My pen on paper, my eyes take a peep
From their closed shells into the darkness deep
Blowing, blowing, cool breeze blows me to sleep.

Its 7: 00am
I'm awake but still feel sleepy
My ears yet glued to my head
But its all tweet tweet around me.

Awoken from this tortuious slumber by de owl's hoot/mornin has come i suppose so my lids flutter open like an imploding osprey/a garrison of small bodied beetles have gathered under my foot/i look up, its still dark, so why did i awake.

If I lie may I be struck with an incurable sickness/It was my aunty I saw at the witchdoctor's/He was a black man conjuring spirits and phantoms out of darkness/I had to get a closer look without formenting any ruckus.
Staff stuck in the ground, bones and stones lying on a ratskin mat/

Only see in black and white
Supercedes a game, now a fight
Castle left, king to the right
Around, screams of 'run, run'.

Cross askew
In nomine Patri, et filii, et spiritus sanctu
Wall stains, O deathly blood
Dreams at midnight, of me and you.

Leave me to weep
Don't say its okay
Leave me to peep
From behind the curtains as it floats away.

Life is grey
Shades of black and white
Some birthed at night, others at day
Fate bestowing on some the privilege of sight.

A Frame of broken pictures
A wall of torn shadows
A body of cursed sores
Bleeding feet with no souls

n a bulletproof vest I await Cupid
But her arrow shall pierce me through
A nickel for my thoughts, for my heart a penny
What if I love you?

She said to him, 'I search for the way'
He saw her across the wooden spiked fence
He was a beast and it was that night in May
'Draw near lest I'm unable to wipe your tears'

f there were no God
There would be no beauty
No scorching heat nor howling wind
No fallen leaves and stormy seas

Upon the wind's billows
My Fair One and I ride
Like phantoms from ghoul
Coasting towards the night sky.

Across the waters, still and cool and high
Somewhere in the horizon, somewhere far
I saw that eagle fly beyond the skies
She had her shoulders with the sun's rays clad.

Happily dancing on broken spikes and needles
Aloud and aloud they sing
Come join us in this merrying.

Bed Of Roses

I want to lie in a bed of roses
And be in your arms when the sun goes in
Kisses and butterflies to keep my head spinning
And in my dreams watch you shake your waist of beads

Feathers of eagles adorn your crown, my native queen
The priest says the gods have prepared you for me
Come sit in my laps while I sing
For you and for me and for our love between

Tell me the secret, my love, do tell
Why I try to leave you but always fail
The message of the dove into my blanket fell
The spirits and the gourd and the flute wish us well

The rivers have run dry for us
The gods refuse their meal and have taken on a curse
The gourd rejects its wine save for a few drops
I gaze from my mother's kitchen into yours

We await Ikemefuna from your loins
The first fruit of our many boys
This village and that and the other across
Are gathered outside between the shrine and our hut

Put Ikemefuna between us both
Let the maid prepare for him leaves as coat
The air and trees bless us with the birds' notes
The sun has risen upon the bed of roses on which we float
