Dominic Ewa Poems

The insatiable urge to make things work
The heavy heart that greeted me at dawn
The pain and agony of battles fought
All because I forgot to love myself.
...

I was once in love which turned to hatred and now I am joyfully in love
I'd demonstrated faith, felt fear and still move mountains
I was free one day, in prison the next and back to freedom
I was rich a season, penniless the next and return to wealth and abundance
...

Knock Knock. Expecting "who is there? ".
No answer. But I can see the light's on.
I can here footsteps, voices and the occasional cough.
So I called out as loud as my vocal cord permits.

I Forgot To Love Myself

The insatiable urge to make things work
The heavy heart that greeted me at dawn
The pain and agony of battles fought
All because I forgot to love myself.

Love is sweet, so they say
I misunderstood, loving everyone else
Hoping that I will be loved in return
So I forgot to love myself.

It could have continued all of life
But for a realisation of starving self
Crying out like a drowning soul.
Something was missing, I just didn't know “what”
Determined to find “what”, I dived within.
Nothing was missing; I forgot to love myself.
