Dimu Eric Olowo Poems

For when I was a child.
Beloved of my dear mother.
Pure, in my childly innocence
And my childly innocence
...

Many a times ponder I
On the purpose of existence.
What really was I designed
To do in my brief sojourn
...

Youthful Jack Robinson lived his
Years before his days were half
Spent.
Just like the little busy bee,
...

Stole her my heart with her gentle mien, conquered she my soul with her peculiar mildness like a dove of May.
So sweet where her angelic smiles, that flung open wide my arms. For thought I this is flesh of my flesh, bone of my bones.

For I never knew that buried beneath, the loveliness, was the craftiness of a fox, instinctiveness of an adder, lurking in the dark to strike its prey.
...

He stood dejected and forlorn
With a deep sad countenance
Staring back at the past,
The things He could 've done
...

For four score years
Was man made for the airs.
If he be lucky, though rare,
Live he four score and ten year
...

She was my minutes; I her seconds
I was her years and she my days
She was my moon; I her sun
I was her winter and she my summer
...

For how long 'll the poor sigh
In grief and agony encore
Before a helping hand is offered.
Breathing out pains and moans
...

Nature bequeaths to me a rare gem
More valuable than any precious stone
Which the eyes of man has ever behold,
Sparkling in beauty, ravishing in grace
...

Write I words,
Sweet words.that brings relief
To an aching soul filled with grief
Words that binds two heart as one
...

Who art thou son of Adam,
You art my friend begotten
Not from my paternal
But nature bequeaths you
...

The Child

For when I was a child.
Beloved of my dear mother.
Pure, in my childly innocence
And my childly innocence
Made I ask many a question
'About Life' From my dear mama.
But then, my mama has a way
Of answering my questions.
Answers that I never understood then
But when grew I to manhood
And saw the answers to the
Questions, asked I my beloved mama.
Long I then for my childhood days
Of innocence and beauty.
But alas! they were long gone.
