A Withering song by Dennis Okyere Brako

Left in the middle of the forgotten path
The journey has come to a sudden bend
...

From seed formation the warfare was on
A fetus developing to be born
On a journey of nine long treacherous moons
Inside the protective womb of motherhood
...

Pick the pieces by Dennis Okyere Brako

With careful measure I was built with treasure
Gleaming in splendor I was painted in leisure
...

The Arena of life by Dennis Okyere Brako

Waiting In the arena, I dreaded playing the game
The panic of the announcer mentioning my name
...

New self-order by Dennis Okyere Brako

I'm circled and choking on every side
By the crashing burden of sorrows tide
...

My volcano by Dennis Okyere Brako

Stretching forth into the heavens
Lies the mountain of the Vikings
...

The game of life we play to gain
Its twists and turns are full of pain
The shrills and thrills are secrets ordained
To self-resign, are oracles profaned
...

I looked down the old rugged road
Incongruously trodden by men of old
On each side where the mould grows
Wherefore should I go?
...

Unlike the many songs of failed fatherhood
My melodies are legacies inked beyond neighborhoods
Composed in gratitude and admiration for a father
Who nurtured an empire and pushed its frontiers further
...

The soul of the dwindling fires cries
Whiles I shiver, at the cold winter's bites
No fumes from the dying embers rises!
A dirge I'm left to sing, as the last fires dies!
...

You look at me as I appear down
The muddy waters of life has painted me brown
My face is puffy and my scruffy gown
A smile is alien! I can only frown
...

In the desert, lies the refreshing oasis
In the dark night sky shines the dazzling stars
From the deep vaults surfaces the brightest gem
In the friction are polished the crystal stones

A Withering Song

A Withering song by Dennis Okyere Brako

Left in the middle of the forgotten path
The journey has come to a sudden bend
Why turn my song to a dwindling end?
My deepest affliction at the sharpened edge

Sadly, broken! My guitar strings
The Medley's slanted, I cannot sing
The drums are silent in the middle of my dance
Am deeply wounded by thunder's pounce

Was peaceful! Oh love why come along
A thing they say can never go wrong
Yet could not stand the tempest toss
Shards of sadness, am looking at my loss

Floods of the grief has overflown my soul
Floating in the distance goes my only bowl
Rain not again you cloud of uncertainty
I'm drenched enough in this rain of reality

My arrows are spent, leisurely walks my prey
I crave for comfort, I have to pray
I need a light back to Milton's paradise
Keep me oh Lord, out of sorrow's bite

In pain I'm chained in the deepest of darkness
Mist and shadows! Am lost in the abyss
I wait for rescue, till an angel comes
For the saving angel who may never come

Beyond all doubt, am hoping beyond hope
I may sound morbid, yet it helps to cope
I'm casting anchor, this voyage has been long
Don't get me wrong! It's just a song
