My Mother

My mother loved to bake and cook
She did all this without a book
She took me to a live fish market
Nothing like Target
She bought a carp fish who I named Jerry
Next day she bought a pike fish I called Terry
She taught me how to behave
That was before I started to shave
One day she bought me a potato knish
I said' Mom I have one wish'
She asked ' What is that'
I said' We all become rich'
We never became rich
I became a writer
I am also somewhat of a fighter
