Daniel Thomason Poems

If only I could turn you inside out...
And see the world that lives inside you...
I bet there's children that play tag near a rainbow that falls from your heart...
And a fountain that sprays stars from its spout...
...

Caught between light and never ending nights, wielding words that I don't understand,
Where cats and pens dance alone in the bend of a hand that is holding all man.
...

There is a mysterious twilight that shades my spire,
So they may not see me from the corner of their eyes,
I watch them dance a slow song,
It swells round my lifeless ears perfectly,
...

My perspectives lessen with the very ballrooms I've crept in,
The swaying dancers that waltz along the quilted beige silk,
In each hand is a sweat that remembers a bet,
This bet that lingers under their dancing quartet,
...

A great confusion towards the bounty of love,
A million on its head or more,
What are we to do but watch and squeal,
As the bounty is completed,
...

I drift along a certain valley of sin,
Internally opposing the simple desires I long for,
Yet, I feel at peace,
For I am free of a mind - mindless...
...

My first wish a sail,
To drift us away,
Second no land,
So the waters we'd stay,
...

In the shear meadows of a frozen wonder,
The snow tumbles along on top of the badger homes,
The sun is hidden behind a crowd of cumulus cotton balls,
And it is colder than the ice that dangles from the tree branches,
...

Stitch my heart with the woes you've created,
So it may let me know you love me,
Your inability to feel in an impossible rumor,
Because your eyes say otherwise,
...

Restless burdens sing in grotesque gardens,
Dead zinnias twirling in an evening wind,
The blackened buds grazed with the grim reaper's scythe,
And mortar and pestle and old dying eyes,
...

The wind rolling round a bending river,
The waves tossing up the mist and down the woe,
The brush held between a sunset and an abyss of beauty,
The invertebrate hopping like young-lings of a play for ineffable purposes,
...

The world blows along our mending hearts
Derided by the whispering sound
Where cradles sink bare, drowning with the used
Eclipsed with the sun by a cruel, smut heart
...

Amidst the Winter's calmness
shivers the naked trees
as they are violently beaten by the chill wind
under the darkness of a humming city
...

Iniquity so pure, glory by the runway,
Radiating photos, transgressive virginity,
Tautology winning, or will not be winning,
The devil in all of us, where God burns unwillingly
...

This feeling is much more than a heartache,
It's much more than a burning desire to find gold,
Because that something is nearest to paradise,
Where our two hearts will forever grow old
...

They called the woman a mistress,
but all she wanted was love,
The man in the suit who handled the loot,
silly soul down but the blame's on the girl.
...

17.

Many unwilling minds
Unravel under a prairie,
Reading lost words in the
Devil's rulebook.
...

Credulous seclusions magnified in the womb of a daffodil,
The tip of a blade creeps in the needles of a rising lawn,
Ol' daffodil cannot flee, cannot hide nor fight,
So in the womb She tries, oh She tries to depart
...

Split the tree in two,
One for you,
One for me,
Don't let the stem peal,
...

I see your face among a crowd,
That swarms a beach under a flashing sky,
Your smile so taking, your eyes so agleam,
You're just a rose that sits carefree in a field of dandelions,
...

Your Inner Beauty

If only I could turn you inside out...
And see the world that lives inside you...
I bet there's children that play tag near a rainbow that falls from your heart...
And a fountain that sprays stars from its spout...
I bet there's graffiti that says LOVE all over the walls...
No profanity or words that will put me back on a trail to nowhere...
But, LOVE, we don't have to find out...
Let's imagine it as a city that keeps peace on a pedestal...
Where the government is ruled by a heart...
Where the clouds always drift slowly to cover up a hot day...
Where the rain is never frowned upon, but skipped through joyfully...
LOVE...
I can't put this into anything more than a childish dream...
So I'll say this:
You're beautiful on the outside...
No doubt about that...
But when it comes to where the heart work its magic...
That beauty will always come before the other...
So when I gaze into your eyes...
Just know I look inside...
To that world that keeps me smiling endlessly...
