Dan Walters Poems

I’m always getting love drunk
Off silly girls’
Intoxicating fumes
My stomach can’t handle you
...

Piles of trash line the halls
Some six feet tall
And still overflowing
With more garbage piled on top.
...

We all give birth to who we are
And maybe if you allow yourself
To open wide enough
We might become whole
...

I

Everyone comes up
With reasons why they want to die
...

It’s either you crept
Or risked getting into a car wreck
So I go outside and get wind whipped
Against my face, then the frost bit
...

Over the embankment
And though the ditch
Up to the porch, into your house
I tracked in all my sewage
...

I walked down the street
I saw a family going somewhere
In the back there was a child
Strapped tightly to his car seat
...

As I watched beauty dissaray itself
It lay limp by your naked feet
The times only perdued in counter clock work
Back to when its arms held something
...

I remember the day we had to put him down
Blood soaked diarrhea soaking into everything
Getting its filth all over the house
And I didn’t care in the slightest way
...

You occupied me
For a long time
I took up your time
For what seemed a short while
...

Somewhere half way around the world
Someone is just as awake as I am
When they should be sleeping
They are thinking “Damn,
...

I sensed a powerful greek god
My eyes shut faster than
A heavy jail cell door
Don't worry I'm still loyal
...

A ruinded life realized in retrospect
A horrific masterpeice being left to critique
You pine with pretentious perspective
Like I give a f*** about your vagueness
...

An aging man sleeps a damn long time
But when he was a child you couldn't keep him quiet
Always crying and yelping as if eager for angst
And now wrinkly he prepares for sleep with death silence
...

In the city
The skyscrapers stick out like ugly monuments
Or the rugged ground’s smooth middle finger
Saying “Aahaha, fooled all you! ”
...

The vampire kids all turned each other to vampires
The zombie kids walk around depressed
While the vampire kids take their anger out on them
And each other
...

You want someone to hear you
Run your mouth
No one wants to listen to a pathological liar
You talk loud
...

It would be slantingly odd
To wake one afternoon
And not feel macabre
I’m not the slightest bit scared
...

The sun rises to its watch tower
To beat down on us
Like the economy
Beats us down
...

The mice ate all your cheese
And you cried yourself to sleep
Cause your cats ate all your cheese
From the stomach’s of the mice
...

The Best Poem Of Dan Walters

Maybe The Only Poem I'Ll Ever Write About A Girl

I’m always getting love drunk
Off silly girls’
Intoxicating fumes
My stomach can’t handle you
But I’m just waiting
For my eyes to rust over again
And the fire to go out
Then I’ll be completely blind
Just what I’m used to
And I hardly write poems about girls
But this one I can actually recall
