To My Father

To the Father who was never there.
To the experiences you've missed out on,
the 27 band performances with no show,
23 choir nights with no one to look at for help.
The hundreds of wrestling matches and 2 Nationals,
With no one to give me hope of winning.
Millions of hospital visits without you,
Without someone to say it'll all be okay.


To the Father who showed his own kids wrong.
To the experiences you've given me,
The 3 times watching you get into a cop car,
With no idea what was going to happen.
Hundreds of court dates,
And no smile of recognition towards me.
The blaming and using of me,
Leaving with no ‘I'm sorry'.


To the Father that was never a Father
But more of a shadow,
An example to others, including myself.
Showing that even the most loved,
Won't love you back
