Christina Bird Poems

She sat in her room,
Surrounded by dark.
Her face shadowed with gloom
And a crack in her heart.
...

She was a storm.
Lightning flashed through her eyes and electricity sparked when she was near.
She was the shivers down your spine and the refreshing feeling of wind and rain after a long drought.
She was beautiful and different, a breath of fresh air after a humid summer.
...

People always told me
You had gone to a better place.
But I’m still missing a piece of my heart
That only you could ever replace.
...

Anger, anger
Fire and rage.
Terrified kids,
Locked in a cage.

The Girl In The Dark

She sat in her room,
Surrounded by dark.
Her face shadowed with gloom
And a crack in her heart.

No one understands,
They don't seem to see.
That she wanders the land
In complete solitary.

With voices in her head,
Telling her to leave.
She doesn't want to be dead,
She doesn't want them to grieve.

But why would she stay?
When all she has is pain
And getting up every day
Is becoming more of a strain.

But she'll always stay,
Not once doubting why.
Because tomorrow's another day
And she tries not to cry.

She wipes away some lone tears
Eradicating her blurry vision.
She will stay and fight her fears,
That's her final decision.

Even though things are rough,
She'll never be disowned.
Others will always rebuff
But their behavior will not be condoned.

She'll work hard to exceed,
She'll give a good fight.
But maybe all that she needs
Is for someone to turn on the light.

She's not always strong
But she knows things will get better.
She will keep moving along
And for that, people won't forget her.

One thing that will stay the same
Is her well known trademark.
Because she will always remain
As the girl in the dark.
