Brooke McMinn Poems
Keeping Me Safe
Wrapping me in your arms so tight Holding me through the night Loving me with all your might You always know what is right
Mother's touch is not sweet and soft Mother's touch is hard and cruel. Mother's touch is not caring and thoughtful Mother's touch is painful and rude.
I Never Got to Know You
I never got to know you And because of this I'm sad Its tragic to think That I never knew my own Grandad.
Is this what it feels like? To know that you will soon be gone/ I know I will see you again, But I don't know when, or for how long.
I saw it all so clearly When you charged through that door Your uncle must have said something And you were going to take your anger out on, 'The Whore'
Till the End of Time
They say that you can find comfort In memories that you have gained But I never find anything Except for sorrow and pain.
Always yelling and criticizing Only recognizing the bad, never the good. Harsh words still sting Long after they are said.
Sing Me a Song
F is for future you will never be in A is for the anger I have T is for the trust that is forever gone H is for the hatred I feel for you
Sometimes I think of all you have done. Tell me, when I was born, why did you run? Was Coke more important in your world? More important then your own little girl?
The drunken lullaby That he sings So calming and so sweet But still it stings.
I get a chill when I see you A tear runs down my cheek I'm scared you're going to leave me I don't want to close my eyes, and go to sleep
Hands of Death
The Hands of Death Are hard to see The Hands of Death Surrond me
What words can I use To tell you how I feel? I love you so much But can it be real?

Keeping Me Safe
Wrapping me in your arms so tight
Holding me through the night
Loving me with all your might
You always know what is right
In the dark you are my light
Keeping at bay the things that fright
When I'm losing a battle you join the fight
Always there within my sight
