Cautious Confessions and Frost that made Our Lips Stick Together

cold air dictates
long strides to
your back door
cautious confessions sink my heart
to the floor
finally something was
solid under my
feet but
everything is really
crumbling beneath
the walk was much
colder on the way
home
at night
a pale breath ascends
up and out
of sight
without guilty conscience I
whispered the words
in your ear
and the truth behind,
so soundly sincere
why ponder life’s
complexity
it’s the moment we’ve dreamed
since infancy
the moments in life that gracefully
stride
the feelings that tell us we are truly
alive
