Benjamin Hallas Poems

Off of the
landing craft
and running
into danger
...

There once
was a gunfighter

He was
...

On the wall

In my
father's den
...

When I think
of you
it makes me
want to cry
...

His feeling
of loneliness
seems to kill him
seems to
...

Your casket
over the hole
in the ground
that is
...

When he looks
into her eyes
they sparkle
like a diamond
...

Your hair is
made of fine gold
Your eyes
are gems
...

Your eyes
are beautiful
and shine
with life
...

The Best Poem Of Benjamin Hallas

Normandy Landing

Off of the
landing craft
and running
into danger

Bullets flying
all around like
a hive of
angry bees

Fellow soldiers
falling all around

And medics running
all over taking
care of wounded

The shooting
of rifles
and the
barking of machine guns

Screaming
and yelling
all around you

Fear rising
in you like
a balloon
with every step

Not knowing
if the next
step will be
your last

Yet you
push onward
Through the sand
the barriers
and past
the bodies
of fallen comrades

Pushing yourself
to the limit
to survive
and stay alive

As General Sherman
said
'War is hell'
