Their spirit surrounding and guiding us to an Africa of our dreams.
We see their trace in every triumph and victory.
Every colour displayed on the deferent flags that represent African countries.

There are too many lies floating in this space.
Glorified misinterpretations have suddenly become the new definition of black.
We have suddenly accepted the unfounded declarations about who we are and who we ought to be.
We welcome their lies with a smile and suppress our truth in hope that the snakes we sit with across at the dinner table will one day turn into lambs.

There is neither now Vaile nor mask suited for this face
No amount of dust can ever cover the radiance in these eyes.
There is now make-up for this skin type, for this beauty is infinite and
I bear no shame in the scars and rankles that tell a trail of my footsteps.

Though there may be a over a thousand words and viewpoints on what life is, to me it begins and ends with one word.

Though we may spend our entire lives searching for the true meaning of life, we may need to look closer than how far our eyes have travelled.

If we were to cut you open and see your heart not just in the physical form but every element of your soul in order to understand what God had deposited in you.
To see how you came to being the women we know today as "the fearless Winnie".
I imagine your heart as I try to understand what it takes for a mother to sacrifice, hugs, kisses and walking your children to school.

There are no superhero in the world but only super humans, and I thank God daily for giving us a version of a super human in such close proximity.
There are no words to thank you enough for the love and sacrifices you have made for us.
You have not just taught us what love is but you have lived what love day in day is out, you have shown what self-sacrifice is.
