Barbara Villabol Poems

I asked the universe for you.
I described you. I put in my request.

Compassionate
...

He was a man I found
As friend and lover as
One I could open myself to
Intellect, heart, eros.
...

Countless breaths in eighty years
Gave voice to
Reproach, complaint
Anger, envy and scorn
...

A warm blanket
You said I am a warm blanket for
You
That so often you had
...

Sunlight is intermittently dimmed
Then bright
Clouds of impermanence
Drift away in the light of your smile
...

A shadow, an echo
A haunting wind blows
Unexpected, bittersweet
...

7.

The blue slate surface
Of a great river
I observe and admire
Each morning as I travel
...

Walk like an Indian
Quietly, no silently
I am behind you
...

Brown orb
Looks at me
My reflection visible in the cornea
...

I feel the wind shifting
Is it time to tack?

You will sail to another shore soon
...

Two ships sailing in traverse navigation,
Which of us sent out a signal first?

Wind, waves, sun, ocean spray
...

There were old growth trees and shrubs
Some were memories worth keeping
Some were diseased
...

The wedding ring I gave you
Sits on my dresser
Where you left it
Two years ago
...

Upon bright blue
A sail boat
Above,
Clearest sky of lighter hue
...

I gazed at the perfect circle of your blue iris
First one, then the other
And I saw my reflection
Your eyes shone with attraction, affection
...

16.

Their lives came together
Wine by the seaside
Hands entwined
...

Space, light, energy, life, love
Is that God?
I pray, I ask, I am granted
Love, discernment, wisdom beyond myself
...

First words, speak those first words
In that first language
Of loving and
Being loved
...

A curtain of shy caution lightly veils the window
Draw it back and see the deep blue of an early evening sky
...

Time waits for no one, spinning in place,
making no changes, keeping the pace,
sorrow so quiet, hardly showing a trace,
sapping your passion, keeping you complacent,
...

The Best Poem Of Barbara Villabol

I Asked The Universe

I asked the universe for you.
I described you. I put in my request.

Compassionate
Passionate
Quick witted
Strong willed

Here

You are not what I expected
And you are all I asked for

In your eyes I see pain, kindness
vengeance, conviction, curiosity
friendship, love
empathy, anger, remorse

I have compassion for you beyond all I remember having for any man.

Now

In your presence,
I dance

Desire, so intense
I wake and find my arms aching for you.

I am terrified

My heart will burst.
