Fire & Stars

Raining flames, fear's contagious
Hearts still beat, pumping rages
Us and them, yours and mine
dogs, sheep and filthy swine

Lungs are dirty, not my soul.
Beyond a life of rigmarole
Ancient wisdom's lost in mazes
fallacies the most pervasive

Feel the heat, touch the flame
Ask yourself what is your name?
Not a word put down on page
Not a man inside a cage

Remember what it is to breathe
Put your sword back in its sheathe
Ask yourself, how was I born?
Learn the answer, sound the horn

Hold back the fool, the greedy dunce
Forget the wants, remember once
You were a child, and always man
Kicking round your gutter can

Ask yourself, what cures pain?
Winter always brings the rain
Summer always burns so bright
Always men and men will fight

Look past the fire in the sky
See the stars, remember why
You once were lost and now are free
Show to others what you see

Be what's right and be the change
Build your kingdom, lay your grave
Care and smile, wave and nod
Do you know who's truly God?

Not your lord and not your savior
Neither prayers for endless favours
We are the stars, me and you
Love's the answer, know it's true
