Poppy Day

And through the passing of the years,
So many flower petals laid
Where soldiers gasped and groaned and cried
And in their millions, cramped and died,

To save us, so it's said -

We make remembrances each year,
Yet how much do we really care,
For war is extant everywhere

And people still lay dead -

Are we but petals blowing in the winds
Of wars created by mankind;
Transients all, that soon must perish,
Just like the poppy's that we cherish -

Will we continue evermore,
To play the evil games of war
And then lay wreaths at cenotaphs -

And listen while the devil laughs -
