There are times when wars are fought
Between each and every thought
Two sides of me fight for control
Each wants me as a whole

The lights dim and the house is still
But despite the hour there is no chill
All I feel is the warmth of the flame
It keeps me close, I'm its claim

So many thoughts in my head
Thoughts of bliss and of dread
Scared of the unknown
Tied down by emotions that can't be shown
...

Days come and go
Who I am they'll never know
They never see my other sides
Never see the part that hides
...

I'm well liked, that much I know
But how much love do they show
I love when people hang with me
Glad I'm someone they enjoy to see
...

Girls seem to have that ability to make you talk
Somehow they can break life's usual walk
When you're sad or feeling down
They seem to be able to erase your frown
...

I've found I crave those serious moments
When we can talk about peace and it's opponents
But to my dismay I rarely get the chance
I'm just what they see at first glance
...

Why can't each day be fun
Why can't sadness be over and done
I'm sick of feeling down today
Oh peace why can't you stay
...

Life has taught me many things
It taught me of the world and what it brings
Trials came and shared from their wealth
Wisdom that could lead to health
...

I start my day thinking of you
And you're the first I visit too
Without you I'd surely die
Some people hate you though I don't know why
