Andy Dean Poems

As an old year closes, a new one will dawn,
Mother nature's new canvas waits to be drawn
...

The high street stores have opened their doors,
Inviting bargain hunters by their scores
...

It's new years day, a brand new start,
new resolutions come from the heart
Give up smoking, cut down on the booze
take long walks instead of the afternoon snooze

The Seasons

As an old year closes, a new one will dawn,
Mother nature's new canvas waits to be drawn

With January winds & Frosts of Hoar,
Bleak winter winds that chill to the core,
Brief hours of daylight snatched by the dark,
This is January making her mark

As slowly but surely winter's grip fades
Greens & Browns turn to spring time shades
And as the cold of winter comes to pass
Brand new life feeds upon verdant grass,

Spring brings her paintbrush, her colours are rife, a dull brown landscape is brought to life,

And while the spring lambs, frolic & play,
migratory birds have come to stay,

Swifts & swallows swoop & soar, while armies of bees make honey to store,
Elegant butterflies float on gossamer wings
And all around the songbird sings

A Musical cacophany, a chorus of cheer,
a sure reminder that summer is here.

Holiday beaches full of crowds, the summer sky with cotton wool clouds,
pushed along by a gentle breeze, an abundance of sunshine sure to please

Hot summer days & balmy nights, slowly transform to autumnal sights,
Majestic trees stood in cloaks of gold as lady autumn takes her hold

Summer visitors have long since left, beaches & bays are now bereft of
sandcastles & ice creams, a circus of fun
Now distant memories of what we have done,
And as the harvest is in, our natures store,
we will await winters cold knock at the door.
