The Last Wish..

In a small little pot, I had all my coins
Early days when I could count till nine
Each coin worth a wish, each wish pure and divine
Hoping for a paradise, wishing the world be mine

Days went by, now I’ve seen it all
The days of glory, the abysmal fall
Each shattered wish has taught me to stand tall
Praying for strength when there was none at all

In the coldest December, or in the hottest May
I lost the child in me somewhere along the way
Looking back in time, when all the options I weigh
My only wish now is to find me that child someday

It was beyond me to resist, so I chose to persist
With an abiding faith that somewhere god exists
Dear God, can you tell the child that he is being missed?
Give him courage to come back to the world he so desists

He fears the open spaces, but he’s just a child
Besides its been a long time since he’s smiled
How can he keep hiding in the dark, in the wild?
Tell him we will be gentle to him, we will be mild

Of all my wishes, most precious to me
Is to be with you, to have you with me
You count till nine; so if I could spend nine moments with thee
I would happily close my eyes having you in my arms with me
