В Сад Любви моё сердце спешит,
Но что здесь? Всё не так как вчера.
Посреди вдруг часовня стоит
На холме где играл в детстве я.

The Prophet

Athirst for God I wandered in
the desert, somber and severe,
and a six-winged Seraphim
upon the road to me appeared.
He laid his fingers, soft and light
upon my eyes, and opened wide
the sight of prophecy, so clear
a maiden eagle has in fear.
He touched my ears, and I heard
the ring and sonance of the world.
I heard the heavens shudder, turning,
and lofty angels flying high,
and sea beasts moving in the brine,
and grapevines sprouting in the morning.
And he did press my lips for long,
and tore away my sinful tongue
that was so cunning, sly and shallow.
And in my lips, as cold as ice
he placed the sting of serpent wise
with gory hand, the Seraph hallowed.
And with the sword my chest he clove,
and took my heart aquiver out;
an ember that with fire glowed
he moved inside… A breath without
I lie upon the sands like dead,
and God didst call me, thus He said:
The Prophet, rise! And see, and hear,
surrender to My Will, and then
go ‘cross the countries, far and near
and spark with Truth the hearts of men.
