once upon a time
not so long ago
in an age of your grandparents
perhaps even your parents...
if your in your fifties sixties
a real time past time since
shredded mutilated condemned
by global corporate greed...
a time once lived more enjoyed
in a less greedy materialistic world
when greed greed capitalism greed
had not plague infested an entire world...
a man went to work earned...
not a fair slice of the pie slaved
for! but at least a liveable wage paid!
while his wife at home the children raised!
children were blessed after school cared
for by a nurturing stay at home mother's
care walked home to embracing family security!
twenty first century children home alone left
long hours alone left to their own devices...
twenty first century both parents are worked...
to the bone! but not enough money is made!
not enough money is by both parents made!
by both parents working for all bills to be paid?
without overtime couples are on a downward slide?
rundown depressed tired being tired extremely tired?
is a when it comes to children! luxury parents cannot afford?
twenty first century corporate greed amasses an elite hoard!

A very nicely written chronological poem that reflects the truth of the 21st century.
